Obituary

Today we gather to celebrate the life and memory of Michael Morris, 69 of Washington State. Affectionately known as “Mike”, transitioned on October 11, 2023. He was born on April 6, 1954, to Viola Green and Garfield Morris in Chicago, IL. Michael spent the early years of life growing up in the Southside of Chicago, IL where he often shared fond memories of his childhood. In Chicago he was raised with the love and devotion of his mother and grandmother who reared him to become a strong man with dignity and pride. Michael Morris enlisted in the Navy and admirably served his county during the Vietnam War. Michael persisted and placed all his efforts on serving his country to honor and valor. Through his meritorious service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Service Campaign Medal, and a Navy Commendation.

After his years of service in the Navy, Michael decided to utilize those same skills to apply to industries in transportation and infrastructure. Michael worked for many years at Bell Electric and later for the Seattle City Transit as a Metro Bus Driver.

Later in life, he married Ursula Richardson (Morris) of Bremerton, WA and had three children. Michael is survived by his loving and adoring children, Unique Morris-Hughes (Washington, DC), Serena Morris (Charlotte, NC) and son, Andre Morris (Seattle, WA) and their mother, Ursula Morris. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Ursula Hughes (Unique) and Prince Clark (Serena). He is also survived by his long-time spouse, Gail Zei.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike Morris and found him to be a nice gentleman, outgoing and full of life. Glad to have him as part of the “family”. I know he had to be proud of his wonderful children – his life lives on through them.
