Mike is my friend. That is a constant. It’s just that he lives forever in Heaven with God and His Son along with numerous souls.
Larry and I had a great time with him and Kathy Ortiz. Dinners at home and out. Great laughs along the way. To numerous to count so you know it had to be good!
About three months ago, he called me at home. It had been ten years since we had seen each other. Life sometimes hands you a maul and soon we were split into each of lives. Eventually emails and phone calls ceased. The friendship never did, just the physical visiting. We had a great talk and caught up on each others lives. I wrote emails to him three times but no response. I just chalked it up to him being employed and busy and me being retired.
I miss him now since I do not have the luxury of determining when to write, call or visit him anymore. That has been taken away from me.
Mike, eternal gratitude to you for a life well lived. Rest in Heavenly peace.
There was a popular song back in the great war, it was named: We will meet again. Don’t know when, don’t know where, I just know that we will meet again some sunny day.
Be sure of that!
Michael was a volunteer with the Carnation-Duvall Community Accountability Board for 23 years, where he worked with youthful offenders and their families. I had the pleasure of working with him for the last eight of those years. In those 23 years he has helped countless youth get their lives back on track and moving in a positive direction. Mike was a compassionate and loving man who deeply cared about helping the youth in our community.
It seems everything Michael did was about helping others and giving.
I will miss him personally. Our community will miss an amazing man who gave so much.
My thoughts and prayers are with Michael’s family, especially, my neighbor sand friends Patti Pearson and Brian. “Northridge at Newport ” neighborhood sends our love and support to you all! Karen Waalkes
