Obituary
Mrs. Minnie Irene Earp, age 85, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington on Monday – November 21, 2011.
Minnie Detlefsen was born on December 14, 1925 in Round Lake, Minnesota – the first born of six from German immigrants. She lived with her family in the southern Minnesota area all of her young life. Minnie married the love of her life, Franklin, in 1945 after he returned from World War II. They farmed in the Lamberton area until 1952 when they decided to leave the farm life behind and move to Washington State. Minnie & Frank lived in the White Center area for more than 52 years in the same house!
While Frank worked at Boeing, Minnie took care of the house & kids. She babysat for numerous neighbors & friends for no or little money. Minnie was a second mom to many friends of the family and a caring friend to everyone who knew her. Her legacy of being an excellent cook & baker will continue through her handed down recipes.
Minnie is preceded in death by her husband of more than 57 years, Frank; her younger brothers – Bob, Les, Leo & Don Detlefsen; and her parents – William & Hannah Detlefsen.
Survivors include her daughters – Karen (Bob) Raymond, Connie (Warren) Skager, Virginia “Ginny” (Bob) Flewelling, and Sharlet “Sharley” (Barney) Best; and her son – Franklin James “Jim” (Colleen) Earp; and her youngest brother – Wes (Joy) Detlefsen. Minnie’s greatest joys in her life were her 8 grandchildren and her 9 great-grandchildren.
Rest in peace, Mom. Tell Dad “hi” from all of us. We love you and will always love you and Dad. You’ll always have a place in our hearts.
Sharlet I remember how nice your Mom was. I am so sorry for your lose.
I will miiss the most wonder woman that I have ever known.
Thank you Minnie for all that you have done for me and my family.
I walked into MInnies kitchen for 18 years like a second son. Try and steal a Taste of the latest baked goods. Will never Forget her love for me that was always shown in her smile, her laugh, and her actions. The world has changed now, but our love and thankfulness never will.
My dear friend Minnie of 52 years. We lived across the street from each other – our kids were “at home” in either place. I shall always remember you taking care of Jay for 2-3 years while I was at work. I remember the good chinese food that Frank took us to. You were wonderful neighbors and friends. I will surely miss you!
My love and God’s blessing,
Veona

God Bless and know that you all are in our prayers and thoughts for the coming days , months and years. God Love
Minnie..I hate to say goodbye thru this impersonal electronic communication. We will always remember your warm welcome, your lovely smile and your very down to earth attitude. We were always welcome at the cabin by you and Frank. Mike
Minnie was like an Aunt to me. I always said she knew me before I was born because my parents were Minnie and Franks friends way back then!!! Minnie was a person who love unconditionally and was always there for you. I loved her laughter and beautiful smile. I trust she is in a beautiful place with lots of love now. Love to all the family.
We are so sorry to hear of Minnie’s passing. She was a such a down to earth, wonderful, loving woman.
I am sure that Frank was there to greet her in heaven. Who knows, mom and dad were probably there too, along with the rest of their gang. They are all probably playing accordians, guitars, laughing and dancing as I type this.
We are so very sorry that we will not be able to be with all of you tomorrow. Please know that you are in our thoughts.
Cal, Terri, Andrew, Russell and Mindy
I met Minnie and Frank about 35 years ago through their daughter, Connie. I have wonderful memories of weekends at the cabin with their family. There was always so much love and laughter and I was treated like one of the family. Minnie was a delightful person to know and always so welcoming. She will be greatly missed. My prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
Karen and Family,
We are SO sad to hear of your mom. She will be missed by all of you so much. I remember being “one of the kids” when we were all so young. The fun times our families had together are unforgettable. So, for Minnie ~ you enjoy your time now with Frank, my mom and dad and all of your friends up there with God.
Karen, If there is anything any of us can do for you, please let us know. . . . Love so much to all of you, Don and Gloria
Rest in peace Minnie. You where always a comfort to me when we lived next door to you in Seattle Wa..
