Mont Orr

Obituary

Mont, our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away peacefully in Puyallup, Washington on January 24, 2023, at the age of 89.

Born to Delwin David Orr and Susie Hymas, in Lanark, Idaho.

He was the 3rd in line of 8 children, 1 girl and 7 boys.

When he was young, he worked as a logger in his family’s sawmill from sun-up to sun-down in Lanark, Idaho.

The family moved to Paris, Idaho where he spent most of his childhood.  After he graduated High School, he spent two years in the Army and trained as an Electronic Technician.

Mont met his wife Colene Windley in Idaho, and moved to Seattle, Washington and married on May 13, 1957. He started working for the Boeing Company as an Electronic Technician that same year.

Mont and Colene went on to raise 4 daughters, twins Cathleen and Charleen, and Cindy Lou and Sharon Lisa.  They spent many fun family vacations camping, going to the ocean and visiting family in Idaho.

In August 1994, after 37 wonderful years together, Colene became ill and passed away.  Mont retired from the Boeing Company at that time.

He met and married Doris Fowler in 1995.  They spent much of their retired time together traveling the world and purchased a retirement home in Mesa, Arizona, where they became Snowbirds.

After 23 wonderful years together, Doris passed away in November 2018.  Mont spent his remaining years visiting with his daughters and grandchildren.

He was very intelligent and had a great sense of humor.  Whenever we would ask how he was doing, he would always say “I’m finer than frog’s hair”, even up until the time that he left us.

Mont enjoyed traveling, cruising, Andre Rieu music, and winters in Mesa, Arizona.  He really enjoyed snorkeling and was a certified scuba diver.  He also managed to get an associate degree from Highline Community College, while he was working and spending time remodeling his rental houses. He loved his job at Boeing, and never really wanted to retire.

He is survived by his loving daughters Cathleen (Joe) Hastings, Charleen (Mick) Griffith, Cindy Lou (Phil) Rumsey and Sharon Lisa Orr, all of Western Washington, Sister Laree Wilson, Mesa, Arizona, Brothers Lynn (Lisa) Orr, Richland, Washington and Randy (Wanda) Orr, Lindon, Utah, along with 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
