Obituary

Murriel Morrell Claire Causey, beloved daughter of the late Bishop R. J. Causey and Mrs. Jeannette Causey, was born on July 21,1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She passed away on Tuesday, May 18, due to complications resulting from multiple sclerosis.

She grew up in Seattle, attending Madrona Elementary School, Meany Jr. High and Garfield High School. After graduating from Seattle University, she began her teaching career at an early age, and worked at several elementary schools in the area – Van Asselt, Madrona, Sacajawea, and Kimball. An exceptional teacher, she never tired of working with children of all ages, always choosing positions that demanded both energy and time.

As a member of the House of Refuge Church Causey Memorial for many years, she had filled several positions – lead vocalist for the young adult choir Voices of Inspiration sermonic soloist, children’s and youth choir director, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and special programs coordinator. She had many friends, but those who knew “Morrell”, most remember her beautiful second soprano voice and a special hymn or gospel song that the artist seemed to have written with her in mind. Overall, she was energetic, amicable, and an individual of genuine compassion.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Jeannette L. Causey, sisters – Pamila Causey-Jordan, Jeannette Causey-Lee, Marion Causey, Ruth Causey-Brown, all of Seattle, Mona M. Causey Wheeler of Sacramento, CA, Wendy Daniels-Jackson of Portland, Oregon, and nieces and nephews, Tamlyn Jordan, Petra Jordan-Minus, Gabriel Lee, John Clayton, Tiffany Brown, Raina Brown and Jasmine Brown.

Morrell loved the Lord and he loved her too. She showed it every time she got up to sing. Enjoy your eternal life now and be with your Dad The Bishop until we all meet again.

Love Always, LaVerne
