DEAR NANCY,

ITS TAKEN ME AWHILE TO ACTUAL WRITE THIS LETTER TO YOU BECAUSE, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WHO KNOWS YOU, I’M SO SADDENED AT THE THOUGHT OF NEVER HEARING YOUR WONDERFUL

LAUGHTER AND LIGHT HEARTNESS AGAIN.

I’M REMEMBERNG ALL THE WONDERFUL TIMES WE HAD AS CHILDREN ON 45TH STREET. SKATING AND SLEDING DOWN THE HILL. PLAYING BASEBALL IN THE CUL DE SAC WITH MY DAD PITCHING THE BALL TO ALL OF US KIDS. YOU, SHARON, KAREN, PATSY, MAUREEN AND I RIDING OUR BIKES, WITH OUR BASKETS FILLED WITH SNACKS FOR THE DAY. COLLECTING BOTTLES FROM NEIGHBORS WITH OUR WAGONS IN TOLL, AND TURNING THE BOTTLES IN FOR MONEY…WHICH WE WOULD BUY OUR FAVORITE CANDY BARS WITH AT THE LITTLE CORNER STORE. DO YOU REMEMBER PUTTING ON OUR STAGE PRODUCTIONS AND CHARGING ADMISSION TO THE NEIGHBOR KIDS??? WOW..THAT WAS ENTERTAINMENT! SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES…I’LL NEVER FORGET.

AS THE YEARS WENT ON AND WE GREW UP, OUR PATHS CHANGED BUT YOU WERE ALWAYS IN MY HEART. I ALWAYS WAS AWARE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN YOUR LIFE THROUGH SHARON. YOU AND SHARON HAD SUCH A SPECIAL CONNECTION. I HAVE HEARD OVER AND OVER THROUGH THE YEARS HOW YOU WERE THE ONE ALWAYS CARING FOR HER EVEN WHEN SHE WAS A LITTLE BABY. YOU WERE THE ROCK IN HER LIFE. I THINK OF THE MOVIE WITH B. MIDLER SINGING ABOUT THE LOVE OF HER FRIEND, THE ROCK IN HER LIFE. YOU WERE SHARON’S ROCK AND I KNOW YOU WERE HER ROCK. TO BE SISTERS AND BEST FRIENDS…HOW MUCH BETTER CAN IT GET.

I’M INSPIRED BY JASON AND YOUR GRANDCHILDREN. WHAT A WONDERFUL MAN JASON IS. NO WONDER YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SO PROUD OF HIM. WHAT ANGELS YOU HAVE HAVE FOR GRANDCHILDREN WITH SVANNAH AND ETHAN. YOUR LOVE LIVES WITH JASON, SVANNAH AND ETHAN ALWAYS. AND JAMIE, WHAT AN ANGEL IN JASON’S LIFE. YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED WITH A WONDERFUL FAMILY.

YOU KNOW, SVANNAH TOLD ME THAT YOU WOULD GIVE A TOTAL STRANGER YOUR LAST DOLLAR BECAUSE YOUR HEART WAS “SO BIG” AND YOU WANTED TO HELP EVERYONE. SHE SAID THAT THE LAST TIME SHE WAS WITH YOU, YOU GAVE A DOLLAR TO MAN ON THE FREEWAY. SHE SAID, “YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT WAS MY GRANDMA’S LAST DOLLOR”. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT??? WHAT A LEGACY YOU GIVE TO JASON,JAMI AND YOUR GRANDKIDS.

I WILL MISS YOU. I KNOW EVERYONE WHO KNOWS YOU WILL MISS YOU, BUT YOU WILL BE IN YOUR FAMILY’S HEART AND ALL OF OUR HEARTS EVERYDAY. EVERYTIME I HEAR I MIGHT FEEL SAD, I WILL HEAR THAT CRAZY LAUGH OF YOURS…ALWAYS LIKE “I’M HERE, LET THE PARTY BEGIN”.

YOUR LOVE OF LIFE WILL LIVE ON WITH ALL OF US, BUT ESPECIALLY WITH YOUR FAMILY. SVANNAH IS YOU. THE BIG SMILE, THE OPEN HEART, THE WONDERFUL LAUGH AND THE KIND HEART.

I WILL MISS YOU. YOUR FAMILY WILL MISS YOU, BUT YOU HAVE GIVEN ALL OF US A SPECIAL GIFT…..THE GIFT TO LAUGH WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH. TO LOOK AT THE GLASS AS HALF FULL, RATHER THAN HALF EMPTY.

I LOVE YOU MUCH, MY FRIEND.

HI NANCY,

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU AS MY SISTER-MOM. WE WERE LIKE TWINS GROWING UP…INSEPARABLE. I HAVE SO MANY WONDERFUL, FUNNY AND DELIGHTFUL MEMORIES THAT I WILL SHARE WITH YOUR PRECIOUS GRANDCHILDREN, SVANNAH AND ETHAN. YOUR MOMORY WILL LIVE ON WITH THEM AND ALL WHO KNEW AND LOVED YOU.

I AM TRYING TO BE STRONG BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT YOU WANTED. I WILL BE HERE FOR JASON, JAMI, SVANNAH AND LITTLE BUDDY, ETHAN. I MADE THAT PROMISE TO YOU THE DAY JASON WAS BORN.

I AM THE LAST IN OUR FAMILY AND I KNOW YOU ARE WATCHING OVER ME AS YOU ALWAYS DID. I LOOK ACROSS THE BAY AND OUT TO YOUR PLACE OF REST EACH NIGHT AND TALK TO YOU…ARE YOU LISTENING?

I WILL LOVE YOU UNTIL THE END OF MY DAYS AND WE ARE TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN IN HEAVEN. WE WILL LAUGH AGAIN AND CONTINUE OUR HAPPY STORIES.

THANK YOU FOR BEING MY SISTER-MOM.

WITH ALL MY LOVE, SHARON

It was a privilege to be part of Nancy’s Memorial Service. What an outpouring of love and support for her family and friends, and what a tribute to the love and caring she gave others. She touched so many lives in so many ways, and we are blessed to have been witness to this wonderful woman.

May God fill her family and friends with love and peace.

Nancy was one of my best friends at Dunlap Elementary School. She was one of the nicest and funniest girls I knew. Her greatest gift was that she made people laugh. I was very shy and she made everyday at school fun with her outgoing and friendly personality.

I was so sorry to read that she was gone and feel grateful for the opportunity to have known her.

My hope is that the sound of her laughter will ring in the hearts of all who knew her and lessen their deep sense of loss.

My sincerest sympathy goes out to her family and friends at this very difficult time.

I was so sad to hear about Nancy. Sharon and Jason will certainly be in my prayers. There are so many good memories of Nancy and our family. I especially remember all the Christmas times together. I am sorry that I can’t attend the services but I still don’t feel well enough. My thoughts will be with all of you. I am sending a card but I thought the front of it might be helpful. ” A rose may lose its bloom, but still the fragrance lingers. A bird may fly away, yet we can still recall its song. So when someone who is loved departs to join the Lord above, they’ll live and laugh and be with us in memories of love”. I love you all. Eric
