Obituary

Nancy L. Lew age 95 passed away peacefully April 3rd. Nancy was born in Vancouver, BC Canada. Her family returned to Canton China. Nancy resided 21 years in Canton where she met and married Saxon Thuen Lew. Nancy settled in Seattle WA’s Beacon Hill neighborhood in the late 1930’s. Nancy and her husband Saxon were leaders in the Seattle restaurant industry with establishments such as Klondike Café, Seattle World’s Fair Paris Revue ’62, Top of the Town Sorrento Hotel and Joe’s Broiler in the international district to name a few. Nancy later worked for Seattle Public Schools enjoying preparing and serving lunches for the Seattle School students. Nancy loved life and was an accomplished seamstress creating her designer fashions for social events. Nancy was an active member or the Chinese Baptist Church. After retiring, Nancy could be found meeting with friends at local senior centers, most recently CICS Sunshine Garden exercising Tai Chi & Chi Gung, a member of the Chinese choir, continuing her Mandarin studies and pursuing her love of the art of Chinese brush painting. Survived by Philip Lew – Seattle; Edward Donna Lew – Seattle; Rose Henry Low – Mercer, Island; Eleanor Kenneth Eng – Pullman; 10 grand children and 10 great grandchildren. Nancy will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. A Celebration of Nancy’s life will be held Saturday April 25th, 1pm at Chinese Baptist Church, 5801 Beacon Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chinese Baptist Church or CISC Sunshine Garden Chinese Senior Day Care Center 409 Maynard Ave S P3 Seattle, Washington 98104.
