NAOKO GOWER
Naoko Gower, age 91, died on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Born on February 4, 1925, near Tokyo, Japan, Naoko had resided in the greater Seattle area since 1963.
Naoko’s Japanese heritage was a very important part of her life, and she stayed connected to this heritage through her involvement as Past President of both the Ikebana International Seattle Chapter 19 and Omotesenke-Ryu Tea Association. In addition to serving in a leadership capacity with both of these organizations, she also taught classes on the art of Ikebana flower arrangements and tea ceremonies.
Naoko is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, William R. Gower, of Normandy Park, WA, her daughter, Elizabeth A. Gower, of San Jose, CA, and son Christopher R. (Sheri) Gower, of Salem, OR.
There will be a service to commemorate her life on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the small chapel at Glendale Lutheran Church, 13455 2nd Avenue S.W., Burien, WA 98146. A reception will immediately follow in the church’s social hall, followed by a committal ceremony at Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Boulevard, SeaTac, WA 98188.
Memorials may be made to the Glendale Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
Our thoughts and wishes to you, our good friend, on the loss of your sweetheart of 62 years. It was nice to speak with you a few days ago.
It is with great sadness to hedar my dear friend Bill will be separateds from his dear wife. While I am sure Our Father has prepared a heavenly welcome for Naoko it is still a shock.

Dear Bill – You have often spoken so highly of your wife, so I am sure your loss is overwhelming. We are all traveling on the level of life toward that great place from whose bourne no traveler returns – but we all meet again!
