Naomi SUGAR, M.D

62, died July 20, 2013 with family at her side. Naomi has been an attending physician at Harborview Hospital and  Seattle Children’s Hospital.  Her passion has been helping vulnerable children. Nationally recognized, throughout her career, she took great pleasure in mentoring hundreds of professionals involved in child health and welfare.  She has been the medical director of Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress. She also was attending physician at the Harborview Foster Care Clinic.  Her passion was helping vulnerable children. Nationally recognized, throughout her career she got great pleasure from her mentoring of hundreds of  professionals involved in child health and welfare.  She was a Clinical Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at the University of Washington.  Survived by her husband Eric Feldman; children Daniel Feldman, and Elana Feldman; Sister Deborah Klein and brother: Jonathan Sugar. She is also remembered by numerous friends, colleagues, and relatives. She is predeceased by her son, William.  Naomi was born March 5th, 1951 in Santa Monica California.  She attended University High School in Los Angeles, University of California at Santa Cruz. Medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin was followed by a Pediatrics Residency at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, and then a fellowship in Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of Washington. Her warm heart, gentle spirit and smile will be missed…forever. Celebration of Naomi’s life will be held with  time, date and location to be arranged.  A private family farewell will be held at Bonney Watson Funeral Home, Wednesday July 24 at 4PM.  In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Dr. Naomi Sugar Fund, UW Foundation, to support the care of children involved in the child welfare system.  Donations can be sent to Yvonne Koshi, HMC Pediatrics, Box 359774, 325 Ninth Ave, Seattle, WA 98040
