Art was born in Seattle, Washington on October 9, 1935 and attended Foster High School. He retired from the Post Office in Renton, Washington. He passed away at his home Des Moines, Washington on March 17, 2000. Survivors include his wife, Doris, four step-children and seven step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Union Gospel Mission in Seattle.
