NORMAN W. ION
Norman W. Ion, born in Ludlow, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1924, passed away on October 18, 2014 in Port Angeles, Washington at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsie L. Ion, and brothers Clyde and Dalton Ion. Norman is survived by his sister, Martha Scott; five children: Joyce Wilson of Port Angeles, Sylvia Nardi of Salem, Nancy Gordon of Seattle, Sandra Dennis of Lacey and Terry Ion of Lake Stevens; and by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Norman worked in several different occupations throughout his life. Starting with construction early on, he also worked in the furniture industry, was (and remained) an ordained minister for the Free Methodist church in Washington State and British Columbia, sold real estate, managed a hardware store, and, for many years, was a draftsman for the Boeing Company, before finally retiring. He was very dedicated in his beliefs as well as in everything he did – often doing things in an unconventional manner.
He was very open and accepting. He was also very family oriented and enjoyed his family whenever he could. He had expressed that his biggest regret was that he wasn’t able to spend the time he would have liked with his family due to other responsibilities. Our family will truly miss him!
On Monday, November 3, a private family graveside gathering will be held at Washington Memorial Park & Mortuary at 11:00am, followed by a memorial service for family and friends at 2:30pm at the Snohomish Cross View Church, 604 Avenue C East, Snohomish, WA.
Norm was one of the nicest people that ever knew in my 43 years at Boeing. I’ve thought of him often since his retirement. I am saddened to hear of his passing.

I am so very sorry Terry to hear of the passing of your father. I am blessed to have known him for the short gatherings we had. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, and also including all of your family. Your father always had an expression for loving life, and exhibiting an excitement to live each day to the fullest. I will always recall his smile, his kindness and grace, and the wonderful, happy nature that surrounded him. Hugs to you and please let us know if we can help out in any way.
