I can’t count the times I’ve typed, deleted & re-typed my message..
I’ve visited the memorial site on my way home from work every single night; bringing flowers, a note & a poem – and leaving with tears streaming down my face. But I also have a sense of.. comfort, appreciation & joy – in the knowledge of how many people’s lives have been touched by Patrick Maher.
As I left the memorial last night, an officer thanked me for coming by. All I could say in response was “Uhhya” because I was so taken aback. Our officers are the heros. They deserve the “thank you”.
THANK YOU to your family, our police officers everywhere; and Patrick Maher. Thank you. God bless you and keep you safe.

My name is Gypsy. You don’t know me, but I am touched by Officer Maher’s passing. I, too, was saved by a police officer from hurting myself. When I heard that Officer Maher saved a man’s life from jumping off of a building, I broke down in tears because I have been there. The man that saved me was Lt. Suessman, and I think he is a Commander now. He is at the funeral, from what I understand. I just want to say that I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope that the funeral goes well. I wish I could be there! Thank you so much for sharing your story. It teaches me to appreciate my loved ones, and the people that were there for me during my difficult times. I’m sorry you lost a wonderful man. Take care.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. May his spirit soar and forever be a shinning light in our eyes.My deepest sympathies for your loss
My heart goes out to you all.I wish I could have known him. He sounds like the kind of man this country needs more of. God Bless
To the loved ones of Patrick Maher…my thoughts & prayers are with you.
I deeply wish I could help you in some way. A close friend of mine is a Federal Way Police Officer, and I cannot begin to imagine your grief and pain.
Please know you are all being thought of.
My deapest condolences to the family of Officer Patrick Maher. I would like to take this time to thank you for protecting the community. Justice will be served to the man who took this wonderful life.
So very sorry for your lose. Our prayers are with your family..
What is there to say that could make you feel better? If I knew, I would say all the right words. I,too, am a widow of a Police Officer. My husband Gary was with the Seattle Police for 38 years and died last year as a result of an on-duty accident. As I watched the memorial, I thought how much Gary and “Your Patrick” were alike, right down to the cowboy boots and jeans. I’m sure by now they are the best of friends. Try not to dwell on how Patrick died, but, how he lived. If you decide to stay in Washington, welcome, and I’m sure the men in blue will look out for you and your family. God Bless.
So sorry for your loss

As usual I find myself at a loss for words. As I watched the memorial today, I got a sense of what kind of man Officer Maher was. I wish I could have known him. He was a hero in how he lived his life. You are all in my thoughts and prayers tonight. May God give you His peace, and comfort you during this time.
As a member of Federal Way our family was deeply saddened by your loss. We also have a 5 year old and understand how truly difficult it must be to explain to your son that daddy has gone to heaven. Please know that our prayers are with you and you will be in our thoughts for many years to come. I know that our city has lost a great officer, but we have become closer as a community.
Best wishes-

I was just thinking about Pat and will always remember this sad day. Today is the 9 year anniversary of his passing. I first met pat when he was an investigator with the Coast Guard and after his retirment he worked with me for a short period of time before joining HPD. He was a great person and the world is a less better place with him not in it. Aloha
