Onadee Steward Bentz died peacefully at age 103, at Village Concepts Assisted Living, in Milton, WA, on June 21, 2024. Ona was born January 2, 1921, the sixth of eight children born to Charles and Belva Steward, in Canyonville, Oregon.
Ona married the love of her life, William Bentz, on May 23, 1940. They had two children, Judith Lee and Brian.
They lived in Burien for 60 years before moving to Providence Point in Issaquah.
Two sisters and five brothers preceded her in death, as well as her husband Bill on June 17, 2012, grandson, Matthew Bentz, on February 17, 2015, and son, Brian, on August 12, 2020.
Ona was a devoted homemaker, with a gift of hospitality that continued throughout her life. Ona was a talented, gifted seamstress. Ona sewed her grandson Mark’s bride’s wedding gown and the ring bearer’s suit. Her talents took her to years of employment in the Southcenter Frederick & Nelson’s fabric department.
Ona loved her children and enjoyed their love. She treated her eight grandsons, Matthew, Kevin, Lukas, Joel, and Nolan Bentz; Douglas, Mark, and Jason Pearson, and, Lawrence Watson as sons. She doted on her eleven great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great-grandchildren. She had many cherished nieces and nephews.
Viewing is from 1-2 pm and a Graveside Service at 2 pm at Washington Memorial Cemetery, 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac. Monday, July 8.
