Reminisce from Val

Orlin and George were good housekeepers in their lives. There were two teams, George and Val, Orlin and Phyllis. Every Saturday, being our parents worked, we house cleaned. I was approx. four, Phyllis seven, Orlin ten, and George twelve. I thought we were to be mad at the other team, as Orlin and George worked so rapidly. Soon as the work was accomplished, they fixed lunch, we ate, and away they went to baseball as buddies, then Phyl and I played.

Orlin had lots of patience, he taught me how to drive a stick shift when we lived in South Park, where Daryl now lives.

Orlin and Dick enjoyed the times together building the cabin at Lake Morton, each had a gopher, Denny and Lauren approx. 1955.

In August 2005 our visit was so cute, Orlin shook his finger at Everett for the longest time, knowing who he was, then shaking hands.

October 2005 was our last visit with Orlin while in Seattle. I helped feed him lunch while giving him a chocolate cream. Everett, Phyllis, and I enjoyed the so precious smile.

We will miss you Orlin, another chapter in our lives closed……

Love Val

My fondest memories, are of the time spent at the Lake.

However, there are two others that pop into my mind quite frequently.

Orlin had taken Denny and me to a basketball game, where we saw Elgin Baylor play, who was then the Michael Jordan of basketball. And then there was the time at their house when it snowed, and Orlin got out sheet pans for us and we slid down the backyard hill. I know we hit speeds of at least ninty! I look at those sheet pans now and wonder how we even managed to fit onto them, let alone hold on at ninty!

We will all miss you Orlin…

Love Lauren

Dearest Mae,Denny, Daryl and all your famlies,

I just felt sick when we read where Orlin had passed away. He was always such a dear, sweet, gentle and caring man. I always remember the many times you welcomed me and my unannounced calls on you two. No matter what, you both always made me feel welcome. You were always a port in the storm for me. Orlin was such a special man and I will always remember his kindness and his caring ways. We all loved him and you were truly blessed to have had him with you all these years. May God be with him and you and the boys during these times. He was a very special person and a true gentleman. Dave called Doug and told him of Orlin’s passing and he really felt badly as he remembered what great pals he and Daryl were and what a nice father Daryl had and wants to be remembered to Daryl and all your family Love to you all and you have our greatest sympathy.
