Obituary
Oscar Ray Vinson was born December 1, 1927 to Nathan and Octavia Vinson in Girard, Louisiana.
He came to Seattle, Washington in 1946 and worked for John H. Sellen Construction as a Laborer for 30 years. While working as a laborer, he joined Local 242 where he was a member for 50 years, and was awarded the gold membership for his outstanding support for the Laborers International Union of North America.
On March 12, 1948 he married his devoted wife Bertha Lee Anderson of 56 years. To this union they had eight children. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather to all. Maintaining and providing for his family was important to him. One of his greatest joys was fishing and cooking. He was also and avid gardener where he had grown a variety of vegetables and a beautiful arrangement of flowers.
Oscar was longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board faithfully. He later joined Grace United Methodist Church where his membership remained.
On September 3, 2004 Oscar Ray Vinson departed this life. He was preceded in death by his sisters Leola, Luella, Beenie and Esther Vinson; brothers, Alonzo, Elmore, Leon, Joseph, CB, WJ, and Nathan Vinson, daughters, Lyvern Vinson and Marilyn Vinson, sons, Bobby Vinson, Nathaniel Vinson and Norris Anderson.
He leaves to mourn his wife Bertha Lee Vinson, brother Jasper Vinson, brother-in-law, Cleveland Anderson, son; Phillip Vinson; daughters, Bunny Vinson Anderson and Carolyn Nellams, 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews
