Obituary
PATRICIA ANN NIELSEN
March 15, 1931 ~ November 7, 2016
Patricia Ann (Patty) Nielsen was born in Seattle, Washington March 15, 1931, to Homer G. and Pearl A. Huson. She passed away November 7, 2016 following a short illness.
She was raised primarily by her mother along with 7 siblings. They were, and are, a very close and loving family who continued to get together for holidays and special occasions, even after having families of their own.
The impact Patty had on the lives of others has been displayed in the heartwarming messages and condolences received by so many family members and friends. She was always a willing giver of her time and spent a good part of her life helping others wherever she could.
Patty raised three children and through a few marriages she acquired a few step-children along the way. She was born and raised in Seattle and moved to California in 1981 with her husband, Glen Nielsen. She worked at various places, including Kenworth, S&W Foods, Costco and a Synagogue in California. She loved to work and retired when she and Glen moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1992. When Glen passed away in 2002 she moved back to this area.
Her talents were many. At an early age, she learned to sew, crochet and knit. She made many beautiful items; most of them gifts for family and friends. Doing ceramics held her attention for several years, and she even owned a ceramic shop in the late 70’s. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing and dancing…not to leave out gambling which was her favorite past time!
A few years ago Patty met some great friends and joined the Eagles of Puyallup. She loved going there and socializing with everyone, and always left there feeling happy. She frequently commented on all the wonderful people that belonged to the Club, and never wanted to miss the next event or drawing for the money!
From the first day people met Patty, they loved her for her warm and friendly smile. She could easily join in good conversation with her wit, sarcasm and love of laughter. She would never miss a party or a Seahawks or Mariners game. She hosted many family gatherings and was always involved with the cooking part of Holidays. What good pies she made!
Patty was preceded in death by her parents Homer G. Huson and Pearl A. Huson (Williams), Husband Glen E. Nielsen, brother Bob and sisters Margie, Nita and Rosie.
She is survived by her three children, Terry (Jan), Doug (Wendy) and Gloria (Gary); her granddaughter Shawnna (Alan), and two great-grandsons Rayin and Treyson; siblings: Ditty, Bud and Mickey; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and step-children and -grandchildren.
She was loved by all and will be missed beyond words. I’m sure she is just saying, “Not goodbye,” but “Until we meet again.”
The Memorial Service will be held at the Puyallup Eagles, 202 5th St NW, Puyallup, WA 98371 on Thursday November 17, 2016 from 12:00 – 4:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eagles 2308 Auxiliary Charities. Please mail donations to the address listed above Attn: Loni Andrews.
We will miss her.
Mom,
Just want to say how much we all miss you and your smile and your laughter.
It’s been a year and a half and still every day I go to pick up the phone to call you.
Until we meet again…. Please stay by my side, I know you’re there!
