Obituary
Patricia Louise Karrasch, age 92, passed away on February 17th, 2017. Patricia was born October 19th, 1924 in Seattle Washington to Harry and Florence Karrasch-Kermode. Patricia had a strong sense of community, stewardship, and honor, enlisting into the Marines during World War II.
After the war, Patricia continued to serve her community as a Softball Coach for the Rainer Women’s softball league and assisted in the creation of the Special Olympics. Patricia loved children and wanted every child to feel special no matter what their physical and or mental limitations. Patricia’s drive and dedication to the Special Olympics has helped make it what it is today.
Patricia worked many years as a manager for Parks and Recreation for King County. She loved the outdoors, gardening, especially her rhododendrons. She was a Seattle Seahawks and a University of Washington Huskie fan. She also was the President of the Women’s Marine Association for several years. Patricia loved to travel, going with her friend Linda, on many vacations especially Yellowstone.
Patricia was a kind, loving, giving soul who made everyone’s life a little better for meeting her and she will be forever missed.
Patricia is survived by her friend, Linda Vink. Step Sister Sylvia, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on March 31st, 2017 at 2:00 PM with full Marine honors.

An old buddy, similar life styles, and friend. We followed the same path in pleasures and working. It was a hell of a ride, but the best.

Not sure where I would have landed if not for Pat and a terrific career opportunity with King County Parks Aquatics Section. She was an inspiration to me and many others and I will always be appreciative of her support and leadership.

I worked as a playground leader for Patricia at the King County Parks and Recreation in the early 60’s
She enjoyed going to the racetrack and picking winners.
Patricia was my very good friend for many years.,Her smile
and personality will be missed by all.
My friendship with Pat spanned over 60 years ever since I participated in activities when I was a kid and she was the playfield director at Richmond Highlands. I have fond memories of many fun events with her from camping trips to Junior Olympics to basketball and softball games.We kept in touch ever after. Pat has a special place in my heart as mentor and friend.

My eatliest memory of my Auntie Pat was on my 6th birthday and a trip to Farrells Ice Cream Parlor with my family. After that, a sleep over at my Auntie Pat’s. So me and my new Barbie packed up for a sleep over. Boy did I feel special. After that it was frequent trips to the Bowling Alley where Auntie Pat would wow my brother and I with her supberb skills. How much fun my brother and I had on our trips to the Bowling Alley with our Auntie Pat!
And when most people enjoyed retirement, Auntie Pat kept busy. I remember she would park rental cars at the airport. I thought that was the coolest thing.
Later in life I enjoyed talking with her by phone about the SeaHawks and even enjoyed celebrating the SeaHawks Super Bowl Victory. What fun I had with Auntie Pat and her good friend Linda talking about the games.
I will miss you Auntie Pat. Football season will never be the same.
I had the pleasure of knowing Pat for close to 58 years. Her mother Florence Hougen took care of my daughter Kathy from the time she was five weeks old. So, of coarse I met Pat. I remember Pat being in a swimming pool with her legs crossed holding the year old baby in the water. Through out all the years Grandma Hougen & Aunt Pat have been close to us.
Am so very glad we got to see Pat last fall.
I used to clean Pat and Linda’s home. Such a nice and lovely person who will be missed dearly.

Patty was the youngest of our group of Rainbow Girls that did things together and yes, she was in the middle of everything! We called her Krash! a lot. She was my tag-a-long shadow in those growing up years. Loved her to pieces.
