Obituary
Patricia May Mayfield was born to the union of Sadie B. Harris & Fred Harris on November 14, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas.
In 1943 Sadie relocated to Seattle, Washington where she met and married Arthur B. Winston. Together they raised her two daughters, Patricia and Marcella. Arthur loved his new family.
Patricia has always loved cooking. In 1846, she graduated from Garfield High School and her favorite subject was Home Economics.
On April 24, 1958, a light illuminated in Patricia’s life and she and Wallace we united in holy matrimony. Patricia had two children, Edward Coleman Davis, Jr. and Saundra Gail Davis. In 1963, the family was blessed with Wallace Mayfield, Jr. Patricia made sure she chose a devoted man who loved both her parents and children. Wallace, Sr. fulfilled all those requirements.
After giving 30 years of service, as Director of Food Services with Bayview Manor Retirement Home, Patricia decided it was time to retire. Her daughter Saundra and her granddaughter, Nichole worked with Patricia during her high school years.
On December 19, 1971, Patricia became an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir and served on the Trustee Board. She was a member of the Women’s Group and served in many other capacities.
In 2008, Patricia’s health failed and she was moved to Caroline Kline Galland Home. Although she was not able to attend her home church, she continued praying, singing hymns and studying the holy bible.
Patricia loved all of her friends and the staff at Kline Galland and those at Kline Galland loved her. She sang with the choir at Kline Galland’s annual play, “Fiddler on the Roof”. She looked forward to their ceramic classes, baking classes and healing classes. She loved the board games, but her favorite board game was Bingo. Patricia made sure she always had a card with the number 14. Patricia’s least favorite chore was her exercising classes, but the staff made sure she followed through.
One could always find Patricia working on Word Search Puzzles. She worked on them morning, noon and night. Patricia said she always asked God to never take her mind away.
Patricia always reached beyond her home church, remembering those who were sick and shut-in. She was a woman with much wisdom. Children young and old became a special part of her life. They were always her concern. She will be remembered most for the strength and guidance given to everyone with whom she can in contact with.
Patricia has left us for a short while and we look forward to seeing her again. Until then, memories of a life well spent will be enjoyed by those of us who remain.
Preceding her in death are her son Edward Coleman Davis, Jr. and her sister, Marcella Freda Crouch.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Wallace Mayfield, Sr. Patricia spoke to Wallace earlier in the day on April 24th, and she asked him if he remembered what day it was. On this day she and Wallace celebrated 56 years of marriage. Her children, Saundra Gail Harris and Wallace Mayfield Jr. Daughter in law; Patricia Shields and her son in law Wilbert Harris. Three grandchildren; Mone Brown, Ishmun Brown and Nichole Mayfield. Three great grandchildren; Kyera, Tamara and Jordan. One great-great grandson; Kaiden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We can’t forget Mary Burns, who called Patricia Ma Ma and her niece Kathryn Thomas. They were always available, being loving and faithful to her every need.

To the Maifield family: Please accept my heartfelt condolences. May you have the hope that God provides to help you through these sad times. The bible says the dead are sleeping (Acts 13:36) and awaiting the resurrection (John 5:28,29) back on to a wonderful paradise earth (Psalm 37:11,29). Gods Kingdom will soon come and end the problems we face today, like the loss of our loved ones. I do hope this has brought you some confort today.
My deepest condolences to the family. Although I hadn’t seen Aunt Pat in ages I will always have loving memories of her. I am so sorry that I just found out about her passing and wish I had found out sooner, Blessings and love to the family always!
I had a Wallace Mayfield, Jr in my 2nd grade class at Lake Wilderness Ele School in 1970. Might this be the same family? I have a picture of Wallace and a card written by Dorothy M Lewis.
