Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia “Pat” Shelton, 86, who peacefully departed this life on November 13, 2024.

Patricia was born on June 9, 1938, in Seattle, WA, to Robert and Margaret Amick. Growing up, Pat developed a lifelong love for nature, particularly the ocean and beach, which remained a source of joy and inspiration throughout her life.

A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Pat was known for her unwavering kindness, infectious warmth, and sharp sense of humor, which could brighten any room. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to service and community. She spent countless hours volunteering, leading Girl Scouts, and actively participating in her beloved church, Renton First Presbyterian, where she formed many lasting friendships.

She was the matriarch of her family and happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Whether enjoying memories at the beach, hosting lively gatherings, playing games, or simply sharing stories and laughter, Pat created a home filled with love and joy. She was a pillar of strength and compassion, always offering a listening ear or a comforting word.

Pat is preceded in death by her younger brother, Tommy Amick; her cherished daughter, Margaret Hardies; and her precious great-granddaughter, Sophia Nielsen. Each held a special place in her heart, and she often spoke of the joy and love they brought to her life. Their memories were a source of comfort, and inspiration to her. She carried their spirits with her throughout her journey.

She is survived by her devoted children: Jeannie (Thomas) Holman, Scott (Rosemary) Shelton, Susan Tislow, and Sheri (Wayne) Johnson; her siblings: Marilyn Chisolm, Kathy Clothier, and Bobbie Amick; a legacy of nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will carry her spirit forward. Pat’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.

A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on December 3, 2024, at Bonney Watson in SeaTac. There will be a viewing at noon, the memorial service at one, followed by a reception. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and honor her memory. We look forward to seeing you there.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation, or  The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
