Obituary

Patrick Marlin O’Malley

Passed away peacefully Monday, June 7, 2004 with family at his side. Pat is survived by his family Stephanie and Connor, his stepmother Mrs. Jo Boehn and lifetime friend Ray Marston. Patrick was born in Eugene, Oregon on October 16, 1947. He was in the Navy Seals as a demolition diver during the Viet Nam War. He was a police officer and served several communities including Fife. His last employment was providing security at the Des Moines Marina. Pat fought a courageous battle with cancer. After a long run with chemotherapy he was able to enjoy several more years – creating a full rich life. He lived in his dream home in Packwood near Mount Rainer. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his neighbors, which he considered family. In January of this year the cancer returned. Patrick wrote, “I am declining any treatments that will prolong my life, but allow me to pass at a time of God’s choosing. I do not believe death is the end…but only the beginning of an incredible adventure for me, and I am excited on the prospects. I thank each of you for your care, compassion, and kindness! It will not be forgotten! Thank you!” Commemorative service Saturday, June 12, 2004 at 10:00 AM at BONNEY-WATSON Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac 206 242-1787. Memorials to Children’s Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 50020 M/S200, Seattle, WA 98145-5020.

It was a rare privilege to get to know you Patrick and to be the recipient of your trust, friendship, humor and generosity. You have left many memories that will bring smiles over the years to come. Your grace and consistent benificence in facing difficult challenges inspired me and others with your soft spoken courage. Your kindness to others in need persevered to the end. I feel grateful to have been included in your circle of friends. My best wishes to Stephanie and Connor.

We love you Patrick! Thank you for telling us your angel stories, for sending Godivas, for the photos of your home and the stories of the animals. We figure Sabrina is with you now! Most of all, thank you for being our friend. We will never forget you. There is at least one big, goofy, animal loving, angel in heaven. We will look for you there one day. Peace.

A GOOD FRIEND. NOT A COMPLAINT ANYONE HEARD FROM A GENTLE AND LOVING MAN LIKE PAT. A MAN WITH A HEART OF GOLD. A MAN WHO THOUGHT OF OTHERS BEFORE HIMSELF. IN YOUR LAST DAYS, YOU TAUGHT ME SO MUCH. MY LIFE IS SO MUCH RICHER JUST FOR KNOWING YOU PAT. THANKS FOR SHARING THOSE QUALITY MOMENTS. I WILL MISS YOU AND NEVER FORGET YOU. GOOD BYE MY FRIEND.

I will never forget all the great memories while working with Pat down at the Des Moines Marina. We shared many laughs together. Everytime I head home and stop by the “old workplace” I will always think of Pat. He was a big part of the crew. Thank you Pat…for everything. ~Casey

More than 13 years have passed since you left us. I miss our conversation over the most mundane things. I miss you and think of you frequently.
