July 12, 1924-December 16, 2014

Paul Jerome Dargan, age 90, formerly of Seattle, WA passed away at the Newfield House nursing home in Plymouth, MA, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. The beloved husband of the late Mary Catherine (Kerry) Dargan he was born on July 12, 1924 to James Bernard Dargan and Emma (Auringer) Dargan, in Riceville, Iowa the seventh of eight brothers and sisters. During World War Two he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served as a B-24 bomber mechanic with the 460th Army Bases Unit in the western US. After the war he returned to Iowa and worked briefly at John Deere Tractor Co. in Waterloo, IA before going to Seattle to work for the Boeing Aircraft Corporation where he worked for over thirty years, primarily as a Quality Control Planner on many projects including the 747 and 767 and raised his two sons. Mr. Dargan was very active in his church serving for many years as a secretary-treasurer of the Serra Club in Seattle. He attended daily mass for years at Sacred Heart Church in Seattle and was a Eucharistic Minister and lector. He was also president of the Sacred Heart parish council. Wherever Paul was he made a friend and he made many friends over the years in Seattle. After he moved to Massachusetts he spent a year in the loving care of the Newfield House in Plymouth, MA near his eldest son and his wife where he made many friends and brought happiness to all those around him with his wry sense of humor and one liners. He is missed already!

Mr. Dargan was the loving father of James K. Dargan and his wife Lisa E. Dargan now of Plymouth, MA and Robert A. Dargan and his wife Joann Dargan and was the cherished grandfather of their children Robert “Bo” Dargan and Allison Dargan all of Snohomish, WA. He is also survived by sister-in-law Jane Dargan of Iowa and many nephews and nieces in Iowa and around the country.

A rosary will be held on Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00pm at the Bonney-Watson Funeral Home at 1732 Broadway Seattle, WA 98122.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am Monday morning at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 205 Second Avenue North Seattle, WA followed by interment at Lake View Cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his name to the Residents of Newfield House Scholarship Fund. Checks may be mailed to the fund at Newfield House 19 Newfield Street Plymouth, MA 02360. The scholarship fund helps staff members to pursue higher education in the medical field.
