Obituary
Pauline D. Pedersen
Pauline was born June 16, 1939 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and died April 2, 2013 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 73.
Pauline graduated from Chandler School for Women in 1962 and worked at MITRE (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Research & Engineering Corporation). She met her future husband George C. Pedersen at an MIT mixer and they were married June 10, 1962. She served as the Secretary/Treasurer of Kimre, Inc., a business they founded together.
Any that knew Pauline will remember her for her energy, exuberance and avid interests. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, walking, bridge, traveling, ceramics, boating and fishing. She was an active participant in her church, both as a Eucharistic minister and as an Emmaus sister. She loved adventure and travelled during her life to much of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Middle-East.
More than anything else though, Pauline was known for her open heart and her devotion to family, traveling from coast to coast to spend time with her children and her beloved grandchildren who knew her as Nanny.
Pauline is survived by her four children Chris Pedersen, Mary P. Gaston, Kim Emert and Rachelle Vandergriff, and by her thirteen grandchildren Samantha and Tian Pedersen; Nicole, Blake and Blue Gaston; Leah, K.C., Jessica, William, Julia and Kirsten Emert; and Sebastian and Catherine Vandergriff, as well as numerous brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, sons and daughter-in-law, cousins and friends.

Mary, my sincere sympathies. I didn’t know your mother was from Cambridge. My old stomping grounds. I knew there was something special about you. Take care of yourself.
Johanna & family, I’m so sorry for your loss. As the years pass, we are losing so many so close to us and it is always way too soon to let them go. Remember Pauline for her spirit and love and let that surround you in your time of grief. She is in a better place and will be waiting with open arms when our time comes. God bless you all!
Pauline was an inspiration to all of us. She was always there for us when we had our problems, without conditions. She was a very careiing and giving person.I traveled a lot with her.she will be truly missed. Our prayers are with her , and her family LOTS of LOVE AND BLESSINGS.

Pauline, center front with her sisters to her left and me and my sister Adele on the right.
I remember Pauline fondly and I know the Pedersen family will warmly remember the times they all shared together. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
Pauline- you were a great sister-in-law and although we did see each other often, Gil and I will miss knowing that you are there, in Ft. Lauderdale or with one of your children. We are so glad that we had the opportunity to visit with you in early February- it is a memory that we will hold in our hearts. We will keep you in our prayers.
To my nieces and nephews- We know and understand the hurt and feelings of emptiness and being lost that you must be having right now. We wish that we could be there to help you through this difficult period, but as we can’t, we want you to know that we are sending our hugs (can you feel them?) and our love your way. We will also keep you in our prayers and hearts.
With our love and sympathy, Aunt tine and Uncle Gil
Mary Nicole Blake blue and family,,
I can’t help but relay my thoughts to you all ..
As you know in the past few years I’ve lost my father my brother and my uncle Jerry who meant the world to me!! I understand and feel the pain you’re going through And it tears at my soul because I love you all so much!!!
But I have found so much joy in the memories that my father my brother and my uncle had together and love Passing those memories on to my children
Your nanny was a special person who gave and didn’t ask for much in return!! This I know because I witnessed it firsthand.. She was always there for Mary and I when you kids were young, And I always respected her for that!! As your life goes on and you have questions ask yourself how would your nanny Answer them and you will never go wrong…
That being said I feel I must mention the love that your mother has for her mother And this was proven by the ultimate sacrifice Of giving her kidney to her mother to prolong her life!!! Mary you are a beautiful person just like your mother you give and don’t expect much in return.
I love you guys!!!

I am so sorry. You must all be heartbroken. But know that through her love and effort, she produced some great kids.
