Obituary
Pauline Pendergraft passed away peacefully on April 24, 2011 in Des Moines, WA. She was born February 9, 1920 to Henry and Katherine Helbling in Mandan North Dakota. Pauline grew up on her parent’s farm with her sisters, Anne, Isabell, Leone and brother Donald. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Phil of 54 years, and leaves behind her children; Dorothy Rudick Mike, Terry Brady Kathleen and Phyllis Byers Rick, grandchildren; Kelly, Tyler, Candi, Clay and Danica and great grandchildren; Cody, Trevor, Stephanie and Hannah. She married Harold Brady in 1940 and raised Dorothy and Terry in Mandan until 1955 when she moved her family to Seattle to start a new life. While in North Dakota, Pauline was always ready to help her sisters and friends when they needed her and spent many months working on her father’s farm. After she met and married Phil, they had Phyllis and raised their family in Seattle. Pauline loved to cook and was an expert in the art of canning and preserving fruits, vegetables and other food items. She grew beautiful flowers and enjoyed the bounty of her and Phil’s prolific vegetable crops. She had an incredible memory for birthdates, events and other milestones and always kept in touch with friends and relatives near and far. Pauline and Phil traveled throughout most of the western United States, enjoyed visiting friends and family and she especially loved site seeing beautiful parks and landscapes. She always loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and was very generous with her love and ‘motherly’ advice. We will cherish her memory and greatly miss her laughter and applesauce.
