Obituary

Pedro Sauceda NÚÑEZ

Born June 29, 1928 in Mercedes, Texas to Benito and Anita Núñez.  Passed away April 30, 2012 in Seattle, Washington.

Pedro served in the Army Air Corps post WWII and was a Disabled American Veteran.  He met the love of his life, Maria Aurora Cantu, at the Majestic Theater, and they were married on December 19, 1954 in Brownsville, Texas.  After his first six children were born in Texas, Pedro moved his family to Seattle, Washington in August of 1967.  Two years later, his youngest child was born.

Pedro worked for Boeing for two years, then worked for Kenworth Truck Company, retiring after 25 years.  He was honest, hardworking, very friendly, and an avid thrift store shopper.  His generous spirit meant that family and friends often left his home with something special he had given them.

Preceded in death by his wife, Maria Aurora, his daughter, Ana Maria, and his youngest son, Randy.  He is survived by his daughter, Bebe Moran (Bill), his sons, Boli, Marco, Miguel and Danny Núñez, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother, Joe Núñez and his sister, Carmen Zapata.  Funeral Mass on Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 861 SW 128th Street, Burien.

Wow, that picture of Pedro and the boys brings back so many memories! You all look the same as you did when I first met you all so many years ago. I am so sad for yet another loss in your family but glad to know he is now in a better place next to his lovely wife, daughter and son. His great spirit will be missed by so many. His big heart and great smile brightened so many days for me. Take care my friend until we meet again.

All our love to the whole family. Pedro was very special to us and to the community. He was so proud of his family! He shared many stories with us over the years. We remember him at baseball games, dressed up for church, going to Jack-in-the Box; always wearing that huge smile. He loved listening to or watching the Mariners. Thank you, Pedro, for the legacy you left to your family: strength, pride, committment, kindness….

With our sympathies and love,

Alan and Kathy Anderson

I feel so blessed to have met Maria and Pedro. Some times when I hold my babies, I try to remember the humming and rocking that Danny told me Maria did for her babies. With Pete, I will always be flattered to my core of his sweetness to me and the flattery he showed me. I loved them all very much even if I wasn’t able to get to properly see Pete the last few years. My deepest sympathy to the Nunez family. Thank you all for such happy memories, may yours bring you comfort.

To Eric and Krista, and to all of the Nunez family….I am happy to have gotten to meet grandpa. Although I only knew him for a short time, I already felt his sweet nature and interest in everyone. He will be missed.

I worked with Pete at Kenworth for many years. He was always friendly and helpful to anyone who required parts from the “nut house.” Our Friday potlucks at work were tasty, especially with Maria’s good cooking, brought by Pete.

Pete was proud of his kids, they were always a topic of conversation, as well as memories of his days with family in Brownsville. I am very saddened by the loss of your father, I appreciate knowing and being friends with him over all these years.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one. Death is one of the most difficult things we face in life but may it comfort you to know that others care. I have found great encouragement when reading the beautiful words penned in the Bible at Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.” May this promise bring your family comfort in this difficult time.
