Obituary

Philip Henry Gai passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at age 80 with his loving family by his side. Phil was born November 5, 1924 in Seattle to Giglio and Cecilia Gai. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1943 where he lettered in football and was awarded All City, All State. In 1948, he met and fell in love with Dorothy Congiusta. Phil was the co-founder of Gai’s Seattle French Bakery and had a passion for baking and cake decorating, while always showing loyalty and respect to his employees and customers. His pastime activities consisted of hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Phil will be remembered for sharing with the community his Christmas Displays, Seafair, and the 4th of July fireworks.

His greatest fulfillment and joy was to be with his family. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; three sons, Don Kristie, Ron Rosemarie, Mike Karen; four daughters, Lorraine, Elaine John, Sandy, Tina Jeff; eighteen loving grandchildren and sister Rosemary Gai Scalzo. He is preceded in death by his brother Henry. Phil will always be remembered for his fun loving personality and sense of humor. We will miss you and love you always! A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, June 25th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in West Seattle. 4139 42nd Ave. S.W. Viewing will be offered Friday June 24th from 10-8 at Bonney-Watson Capitol Hill, 1732 Broadway, Seattle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Ronald McDonald House, 5130 140th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA
