Quong "Dan" Ying Louie

Obituary
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on February 18th at the age of 90.
Dan was born in 1927 in Guandong Province. He arrived in Seattle in 1937 via Ellis Island after a lengthy sea voyage when he was 9 years old. He attended Summit Elementary, Pacific School and Meany Jr. High. From 1943-1944 Dan did kitchen and restaurant work at the Piedmont Hotel.
Dan married Helen in 1946 when they were still teenagers. They were married for 55 years before she passed away in 2001.
In 1948, Dan began a long career as an aerospace machinist with Boeing where he worked on production of the B-52, 377 and the first three 737’s. He retired in 1993 after 45 years with the company. He was a proud member of the machinist union 751.
Besides the pride and enjoyment he took in spending time with his grandsons and extended family, he was an avid outdoorsman. Dan enjoyed hunting for deer, upland birds and various waterfowl with his many hunting dogs over the years.
Fishing was Dan’s outdoor passion. He enjoyed the challenge of fishing for salmon, steelhead, bass, crappie, sturgeon but especially trout. And he loved to share that passion with anyone who happened by whatever lake, stream, river or body of water he was fishing at the time. He was a familiar face at many lakes throughout the region.
Dan lived a long life filled with family and the many friends that he made through Boeing and his outdoor pursuits.
Dan is survived by his children, Terry Louie and An-Marie Bellows (Carl); grandsons Ian and Jeremy Bellows; sister Mei Woo (King); sister-in-law Helen L. Lum; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.

Louise was The greatest love his fishing and good Chinese food especially chicken fee he was my best friend. Will miss him so much. My days want be the same fishing this year will miss my fishing buddy. Love you Louie we will Fish again In heaven.
