Raymond Clarence ‘Ray’ CHRISTENSEN Age 88, passed away August 12, 2009, at the Dobson Home Hospice with Mary, his loving wife, by his side. Residing in Sun Lakes, AZ, Ray was a Washington state native. He was born in Seattle March 20, 1921, and graduated from Ballard High School. Ray served aboard the USS Lexington in World War II. He retired from the Seattle Fire Department after 25 years. Ray belonged to the Ballard Elks, Nile Shriners, Vasa Hope, Masons and other community organizations. He also was an avid golfer and fisherman. Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene, and he is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Sandrea Henry Wheeler, son George Christensen, stepsons Kurt Maria Winchester, Alan Terri Winchester, and Karl Dori Winchester, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Services will be held in Seattle, WA, on August 29, 2009, at 10:30 am at Wiggen & Sons Mortuary.A celebration of life will follow at the Ballard Elks Lodge from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ray’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
