Obituary
Raymond Cornell, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 21, 2025. Ray was born in Colorado in December 1943, to Joe and Amelia Cornell. After high school, he proudly joined the US Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Bon Homme Richard. After his enlistment, he was a dedicated, no-nonsense employee for over 40 years in Pressure Control for PSE.
He and Diana were “Weekend Warriors” when it came to camping. He enjoyed bowling and monthly game nights. He would make funny faces that would make everyone snicker. He looked forward to family activities as he deeply loved his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the house. He was a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He regularly had a mischievous smile and always a twinkle in his eye. He is dearly loved and will be missed more than words can express.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Bill, Charlotte, Nita, Joe, Chuck, and Terry, and his son Jeff. He is survived by his love and wife Diana, sons Doug and Craig, daughter Juli (Jeff), daughter-in-law Karen, sisters Edith and Lillian, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
A Military Funeral Honors ceremony will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. A celebration of life party will be at a later date, still to be determined.
