Ray died unexpectedly at home at the age of 59. Ray was born in Seattle and was raised in Normandy Park until 1956. He then moved to the Woodmont area of Des Moines. He lived an ideal life on the beach. He attended Sunnydale and Normandy Park Elementary. In Des Moines he attended Federal Way High School where he graduated in 1962. He spent 4 years in the Cost Guard where he was stationed at Long Beach, California and Kodiak, Alaska. He went to work for Western Airlines in 1966 and has continued there through the transition to Delta Airlines. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, his daughter Jennifer Fichamba Alonso and son Chris Mary his two grandsons Aaron Reed and Mathew Fichamba, his brother Robert Reed Effie,niece and nephew Melanie and Jeff, his brothers-in-laws, Barry Blackburn, and Dennis Blackburn, his nephew Michael Blackburn, cousin Leah and his Aunt Eleanor Donaldson. Ray enjoyed camping and was an avid reader, especially Steven King and Dan Koontz. Memorials to the Lake Burien Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Remodel Fund or Medic One
Very proud to have Ray as a brother-inlaw. He was a good man. He will be missed.
You taught me so much in such a short amount of time. I’ll never forget the twinkle in your eyes when your grandbabies were born. You were a proud Grandpa. You will be missed my friend.
