Obituary

Rebecca “Becky” Alcopra Bustillo Masmela was born January 10th, 1945 in Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao, Philippines. She was the youngest of 6 children to Claudio and Ponciana Bustillo.

Rebecca had plans of becoming a nun before immigrating to the US with her mom in 1969. In Seattle, WA is where she met her husband Steve and they were married for 47 years since March 6th, 1971. Through their life together, they were able to build a successful family business and grow their family by having 3 children: Theolla, Edgar, and Nonila (TEN) all while loving her family, friends, and faith.

Rebecca was a devoted Roman Catholic and spent close to 20 years working for the Archdiocese of Seattle as the housekeeper of Immaculate Conception Church located in the Central District of Seattle. She retired at the age of 64. In addition, she joined the church’s gospel choir to fulfill her passion in singing the word of the Lord.
Rebecca enjoyed singing, serving God, crocheting, photography, conversations, and going to the casino.

Rebecca has 8 grandchildren: Galen Masmela, Rebecca Karlous, Gabrielle Masmela, Joseph Karlous, Gisele Masmela, Michael Jimenez, Isabel Jimenez, and Gwendoline Masmela.  As Rebecca’s life ended in this world, her eternal life began in the Kingdom of God. The family finds comfort knowing we honored Rebecca’s last wishes as she was surrounded by her family and friends in her final hours of life.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to put a smile on Rebecca’s face and love her as much as we do.
