Obituary
Richard David Johnson, born July 25, 1948 in Syracuse, New York to Marwin and Margaret Johnson, died November 15, 2010 of natural causes.
Richard begin his history degree at Oklahoma State and completed it many years later, receiving his BA at the University of Washington, to the delight of his friends and family. Richard remained interested in history, particularly Napoleonic warfare, and the American Revolutionary War.
His main occupation was as a French-trained chef, and he worked in Seattle for many years and served many delicious meals to his friends and family. He later taught history and computer classes at the Art Institute of Seattle and he greatly enjoyed his students and colleagues.
Richard had a life long love of fly-fishing, and although the fishing trips were curtailed in recent years, he still spent many hours tying beautiful fies. Richard enjoyed socializing with friends and acquaintances in Madison Park and his interest in politics during election season always made for spirited debate. Richard also enjoyed discussing the merits of foreign cars with friends and watching all the games; Seahawks, Huskies, Sooners, Mariners and his beloved Cubbies.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mariel, his step daughter Nicole and step granddaughter Haylee, his brother, Robert, and nieces Susan and Esther.
