I pray for your family in the lost of your loved one. I pray that the Lord comforts you all and that you are reassured that he is in a glorious place, at peace and love with the Lord. In the African-American community, we refer to funerals as “home going”. Rather that more do celebrate the life and that he is now with Jesus.

Steve, having suffered the loss of both my parents and Maryann’s mother we can appreciate your sorrow and grief at the passing of your father. It’s a very difficult thing to endure regardless of how well we prepare ourselves for the inevitable. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Ann, I just went up and visited Dick. He looks so peaceful. I am going to miss his “it” breakfast; his strawberry sundaes, and him spilling his ice tea at least 2 out of 3 visits. I miss his generousity, his wit, his smile, and him spilling his ice tea atleast 2 out of 3 visits. My thoughts are with you and your entire family. May God, somehow comfort you at this lonely time. Take care of yourself. I will see you tomorrow. With loving thoughts, Diane

Ann & family –

“Back in the day” of John Hancock in Lakewood, in a predominantly retired military office, I enjoyed the mentorship of Dick as my first sales manager. His eye for detail checking all the app boxes and patient demeanor always sought to bring his retired Army order to this inpatient young USAF vet who always wanted the answer – now – even when not sure of the correct question! I remember intense contests & parties! competeing with Howard Jensen’s staff.

No matter how much time we have with family and loved ones, it never seems enough. Go gently.

May your gathering together for Dick’s memorial celebration of life multiply your memories of fun & important times while dividing the pain of each of your losses. Grace and Peace from Deanna & Bob.

Dear Family of Richard Hanson,

While I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mr Richard Hanson, I do have the pleasure of knowing Steve Hanson, his son. Knowing Steve, I know Mr Hanson must have been a great and wonderful man, because the apple never falls very far from the tree. I hope that, while today is certainly a great loss for you all, you can look back on many fond memories and what I can tell in the brief obituary was a very full and fruitful life.

May God Bless and Keep all of you.

Steve and family,

First of all, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. As we talked last week, I remembered all of the family pictures and kids’ artwork you have hanging on your office walls. You help me realize how important and precious family members should be to us. Your father must have been very special to have taught you the right values.

Steve:

I’m so sorry to hear that you lost your Dad. When I lost mine, many years ago now, it affected me more profoundly than I ever imagined it would. It just didn’t seem like there could be a world without my Dad in it. I know you are with your family, so hopefully the chance to be together with sibs and aunts and uncles and cousins will help you to get over the worst of it. I won’t advise you to do what I did the night I lost my dad. I rented “Airplane” and drank a half case of beer. Take care of yourself Buddy. Take your time coming back to the world of the Corps.

– Jeff
