Obituary
Richard O. Bye
Richard Owen Bye, 68, died peacefully in his home November 15, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. Richard is survived by his companion Lee Ann Prielipp and his two daughters, Rancy Bye Feldman and Kristin Bye. He will also be missed by his three grandchildren, Noah, Joshua and Ian Feldman, his sons-in-law Leon Aaron Feldman and Andrew Roberts, his brother Roger Bye, his fishing buddies and many, many friends.
Richard was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on December 31, 1942 to Howard and Mildred Bye. Following graduation from the University of North Dakota with a degree in accounting, he moved to the Northwest where he had a successful career as a corporate accountant with the Weyerhaeuser Company for 35 years. Following retirement, he devoted his energies to helping others through his volunteer work with the local Food Bank, activities with the Masonic Temple and work with the Federal Way City Human Services Committee.
Richard especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He had a passion for deep-sea fishing and the outdoors, was an avid Huskies, Mariners and Seahawks fan, grew a bountiful garden and was unbeatable at cribbage. He touched the lives of those around him with his gentle spirit and kind demeanor.
Please consider donations to the Multi-Service Center, UW Medicine Advancement, or a charity of your choice. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his memory on November 26 at Twin Lakes Country Club, 1:00-4:00pm.

The grace and humor with which Richard faced life and death are an inspiration to us all.
Richard was a kind and gentle man, and we were blessed to count him as a friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
I like to believe that when we lose someone close to us they still live through us and give us strength. The time we have spent with those we’ve lost makes them part of us. Richard was a kind man with a gentle soul and lived his life with a greater purpose. Our prayers go out to you.

Although he will be missed, he was the kind of person that left great memories behind for those who he loved and who enjoyed the time they had with him.
Farewell, dear “Uncle” Richard. The world dims now without your warmth and gentle humor. My deepest sympathy to your dear Lee Ann and family.
LeeAnn – For those of us that had the pleasure to work with Dick over the years, we had nothing but the ultimate respect for him as a professional and as a caring friend. He will be missed by all of us.
Dick touched many with his grace, compassion and intellect. Not only with a sharp mind but a sense of humor and wit that was always ready to be shared. You will be missed and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
