Digger was so instrumental in so many lives….certainly my own. His love for Jesus was contagious..as well as his love of people. God used him greatly during our Young life years. Clubs, campaigners, camps…as well as lots of personal caring. I’m sure I represent 100’s of kids and others who God touched through this man
In memory of Dick Langford:
While he was a pastor at Hollywood Presbyterian Church, he was our teacher for Homebuilders Class. I enjoyed his teaching and he was well liked by our class. He had a humble style and a very good sense of humor.
Our family had several nice picnic breakfasts with Dick and his family in Fern Dell–they were an enjoyable family to be with. Our daughters started a friendship at this time and I’m so happy that today they are good friends. I’m glad that we knew Dick at that time in his life.

My heart goes out to Bill, Pann and K.C.’s family in the loss of Pann’s Dad. Today, Pann and Bill, and my husband Tom and I, are enjoying renewed friendships from those young married years together in Koinonian Class at Hollywood Presbyterian Church. And our friendship is all the more dear for the years Pann and I spent together as kids when my Sample family joined the Langford family for picnics. I think of days when we had sleep-overs at each other’s houses, and although I didn’t have a lot of contact with Pann’s Dad, my parents were close to him as the teacher and pastor of their Homebuilders Class. Many Homebuilders have gone on to be with the Lord and Dick is no doubt enjoying his restored memories and reconnecting with long lost friends.
To The Family of Mr. Richard Parks Langford
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to each of you. Although we are not acquainted with one another, we are acquainted with the pain when our loved ones fall asleep in death.
Our Heavenly Father feels the pain that you are going through. When he created the first Man and Woman it was his purpose that they and their offspring including us live forever without the effects of sickness and death.
His purpose has not changed for he promises that the day is soon to come in which he will wipe away the tears of sorrow from our eyes forever and death will be no more.
He promises too that your loved ones, my loved ones and many others will hear his voice and come out of the memorial tombs graves.
Digger was the man who lead me to Jesus Christ as my personal savior.
He was a father figure to me as a young adult. Our daughter, Kirsten Eileen, was named after Eileen Langforde. I love you digger and Eileen!! You are in Paradise!!

Dear Daddy,
Thank you for waiting for me to arrive so that I could see you off on your journey from this life into the next. I love and miss you more than I can say. You always knew the right things to say and you helped me to become the person God meant me to be. Memories flood my mind…summers at the Young Life Ranches in CO, rides to Hollywood High and University of Redlands in which we talked about boys, feelings, and faith. the words you spoke to Bill and me at our wedding. Throughout the difficult years of my strokes, surgeries, open heart, you showed your love and gave me hope. You were a great grandfather to K.C., and never felt offended by his words when looking at your bald head, saying as he touched his own, “Here’s some more, here’s some more.” My comfort now is that you are in God’s presence, along with your beloved Starla.I love you forever! Pann

I knew Dick in South Pasadena where I attended High School 1954-1956 and was a member of Young Life. Such fond memories of that time and of “Digger” and Annie. I paid my respects to him in Seattle at Univ Pres Church some years ago. From the many, many people who he touched with his grace, I would like to add my name and gratitude. Knowing him was knowing the best of humankind. Anthony Turpin
Dick was pastor at University Pres. when I was a Husky. When he preached, God spoke. When he led worship, worship happened.
Thank God for Dick Langford. Rest his soul.
Bill Kennedy – Appreciated your ministry to me both as a pastor and then as the officiant at my wedding in September 1960 in Wylie Chapel, Hollywood Presbyterian Church.
