Rodney Dean Kido

Obituary
Rod was born and raised in Seattle, WA. Graduating from Rainier Beach High School in 1980, Rod went on to attend the University of Washington and Griffin Technical College. He worked in telecommunications for Verizon Wireless, as an HLR Engineer, for 25 years.
Rodney met his wife Beth in 2001 on a blind date. They married September 21, 2003 and Rod, the bachelor, adjusted to life with three teenagers. The couple settled in the Fairwood area of Renton and have lived there for 20 years. In 2008, the couple welcomed their daughter Keira to the family. Rod adored and embraced being a father to baby Keira.
Rodney was a quiet man of few words, admired for his kindness, generosity and humility. He was always there to help family, friends and neighbors. Rod was able to fix almost everything – plumbing, electrical, technical, remodeling. Rod, calm and wise, was a thinker and problem-solver and over time won the admiration of his 3 stepchildren as they sought his advice and help in life.
Rodney loved his food, the Seahawks, former Sonics and horse racing. He enjoyed going to Longacres and Emerald Downs locally and treasured the opportunity to attend racing in Kentucky with his wife Beth, a KY native. Together they attended the Breeders Cup 2022 at Keeneland and Rod considered this a checkmark on his Bucket List. Although not an adventurer, Rod tried a few daring feats – skydiving, hang gliding and white water rafting. He traveled to many countries including Japan, China, Italy, Mexico and England. Maui was a favorite travel destination for Rod and his family.
The son of the late Tom and Miyuki Kido, he is survived by his wife Beth, daughter Keira, stepchildren Dustin (Jennifer), Alaina, and Brigitte and two grandchildren Robbie (13) and Logan (3); two sisters, Karen Kawada (Cameron) and Donna Kido (Mick Nave); two nieces Marisa (Rex) and Jayna (Sam) and a great niece Ari (2).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 10th, at 1:00 pm, at Bonney Watson Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA. A private inurnment for the immediate family will follow at 2pm in the Mausoleum. A niche viewing is encouraged following the private placement.
To honor and celebrate Rod’s life, family and friends are invited to attend a reception from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Maplewood Greens, 4050 SE Maple Valley Road, Renton, WA.

Rodney was a great coworker; I always enjoyed our chats.
So sorry, Beth. It seems he was just too good for this troubled world.
Rodney was a joy to work with, very cool, calm and collected. I pray you rest well.
