With heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time. The bible makes this comforting promise,”God is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit.”(Psalms 34:18)

I have known Grandpa Hayes since I moved from Chicago IL to Washington in 2009. He accepted and treated me like a daughter and I felt that genuine love.

I will always remember our giving gifts during Christmas time. Those are treasured memories. He prayed for me and my baby that I carry right now and it means a lot to me. I am just really sad he is not there to see my baby when she is born. He is such a special person and will always be a Grandpa to me. I will miss his presence so much but I know that he is happy of where he is now, in our eternal home with God! Thank you for everything Grandpa and I love you Grandpa Hayes and your memory will live forever in our hearts!

Where do I begin? Darrell, I loved you so much, I admired your strength, yet humbleness & servants attitude. When my own Dad passed away you said that if I wanted, you would be my 2nd Dad & I joyfully accepted you as my other Dad.

I miss you like crazy, but I know that you are where you have lived your life’s longing for, to be with Jesus & your sweet wife Jean.

I can close my eyes and picture you as a greeter at the gates of Heaven.

Thank you for the love you have shown me over the years & I WILL see you again!
