Obituary
Rollin D. “Andy” Andresen died May 8, 2005. He was born in Omaha Nebraska in 1926. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he moved to Seattle and worked at Southgate Roller Rink, where he met and married Joyce Burrow, who survives him. They were married 56 years and have lived in Burien 51 years. Andy will also be missed by four sons and their wives, Richard & Delight, Robert & Shari, Roy & Vicki, Ryan & Marta; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother LeRoy Andresen, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Andy worked for Western Airlines for 31 years and was active with the Western/PNA retiree group and the VFW. He played drums in a dance combo for many years. He especially enjoyed fishing, music, camping, and Navy reunions. As Secretary Treasurer of the USS Colorado Alumni Association, he coordinated national reunions in many cities and helped establish memorials to his shipmates in Colorado, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Seattle. See website, www.usscolorado.org. A plaque in his honor is on the Memorial Wall of the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas, and he is enrolled in the Navy Log at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington DC.
Andy was at peace with God. At his request, there will be no services—only a private family gathering. The family suggests remembrances to Children’s Hospital, World Vision, or Highline Hospital Foundation in lieu of flowers
Andy was one of the nicest persons I have met in my lifetime. I will miss you. SO LONG ANDY!! Whittle and Spit won’t be the same.
Dear Joyce and family,
We pray that our dear Lord who knows every tear and every sorrow will comfort and sustain you during this time. May your memories of the wonderful family bonds in the Spirit of Christ continue to strengthen you as you celebrate Andy’s life together. Love, Rick and Jan
I remember when Andy looked like the picture. Please know we are thinking of you, Joyce, and send our sympathies.
Dear Joyce,
Prayer is the one thing we can do for you. I wanted to get out there and bring Andy some Baklava and never did. My heart is a bit heavy because of that. We wanted you both to know how much we cared for you and the suffering I know you were both going through. I do want you to know, we did pray for both of you. We will continue to pray for you. We love you.

Andy, with the help of Joyce, kept the joyful events and the sad news of the BB-45 crew alive for these many years. With Joyce, we will all miss A TRUE SHIPMATE!
Andy was one of the first people I met when I started in the aviation business cleaning DC6Bs with WAL in 1954. A happy man who always helped when one needed an extra hand. I have very fond memories of Andy and his peers during my “hanger” days and learning process.
Warm Regards, Jack kastien

I was fortunate in having known Andy since 1973.He was generous to a fault in volunteering to help his fellow Western employees and his beloved battleship sailors.
His kind of decent and steadfast person comes along only too rarely and he will be sorely missed.
