Obituary
Roman Ruiz Javillonar Sr., was born August 9, 1927, in Santa Cruz, Suyo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He lived a long and fulfilling life. Roman lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his two older siblings. In 1947 as a young man of 17years old, along with a couple of good friends, Roman boarded a boat from the Philippines to the Hawaiian Islands seeking a better life. He worked a variety of labor jobs, ranging from a grave digger to a sugar plantation worker, and finally settling as a proud Longshoreman which remained his lifelong trade. Roman enjoyed reminiscing about his work as a longshoreman, loading Bananas onto boats by hand before the use of cranes. Working as a Longshoreman eventually brought Roman and his wife and young children from Hawaii to the Port of Seattle in 1965 where he worked until his retirement in 1998. Roman married Luisa Bustillos February 11, 1954, and had three children. Roman and Luisa raised their kids the Rainer Beach neighborhood. From that little start the family blossomed to six grandchildren, and 14great-grandchildren. Roman’s greatest pleasure and true treasure was his family and friends, a good glass of Whiskey, and watching Seattle Mariners games. His commit to the Catholic faith was unwavering and was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic church in South Seattle. Roman entered into rest on June 15, 2025, Father’s Day. Roman is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and daughter-in-law, Lourdes (Roman Jr.). Roman is survived by his wife (Luisa) of 71 years, daughter Lorna with husband Don Hyslop, son Roman Jr., and daughter Nancy with husband Frank Wilcher. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ramona, Russell, Angela, Frank III, Teresa, and Jacob), 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. We love you so much grandpa and miss you dearly.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm on July 8, 2025, at Bonney Watson, Washington Memorial Chapel. Located at 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA 98188.
