Romulo Dalit, Jr.
December 7, 1948 - June 21, 2022
Obituary
Romulo D. Dalit, Jr passed away peacefully at 12:43am on June 21, 2022, in the comfort and safety of his home. He was the husband of Mercedes Dalit who was with him during his time of need and his last breath.
Jr, his nickname, was born and raised in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. His father, Romulo Dalit, Sr and mother, Fracedes Doctolero Dalit taught him how to be such a hard working, nice, caring and kind man. This is the kind of person people strive to be! He is the middle child of five siblings. The eldest is Esther, then Benjamin, Jr, Edward and finally Alex. He is survived by many relatives who will miss him!
Mercedes fell in love with his loving personality and eventually they would marry on June 6, 1981. Jr and Mercedes came to Washington in September 1986 to start their life here in America. Jr completed his Maritime education and enlisted as a US Merchant Marine in February 1988 to provide for his family and to create a home where they would be safe and comfortable. In August 1996, they found a place that they call home in Federal Way, Washington. Even though his home is in Washington, he made sure to return to his birthplace and build another home where he would visit and do what he loves most- farming and raising livestock.
Unfortunately, in November 2018, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Unbelievably, his determination to provide for his family didn’t stop him from working! He finally retired from being a Merchant Marine in October 2019. His health started a steep decline on November 25, 2021. He was hospitalized and then diagnosed with a brain tumor – brain cancer that metastasized from his prior diagnosis. After multiple specialists, doctors, hospital visits and appointments, surgeries, radiation and even chemo- he would eventually end up in his home in April 2022 to be taken care of by his loving wife and relatives that did not leave his side. Moments before Jr’s passing, he still made sure to look at his wife and show his care and love for her. That is 41 years of an amazing marriage we all wish we could have had.
He will always be loved and missed here on Earth as a great husband, brother, uncle, grandpa, cousin and friend, but luckily God has gained another angel in heaven.
Romulo Dalit Jr will be buried in the Philippines
