Ronald "Ron" Joseph Judy

July 22, 1948 - January 18, 2024

Obituary

Ronald (Ron) Joseph Judy, 75, passed away on January 18, 2024, in Seattle, Washington. He was born July 22, 1948, in Seattle, WA, to Leon and Margaret (Peg) Judy, and spent his childhood in Burien, WA. Ron attended the University of Washington, earning a BA in Business (Class of 1974) and continued his studies at the University of Chicago, earning an MBA (Class of 1976). Ron continued to call Seattle home throughout his life, splitting time between the Northwest and San Diego.

In his own words, Ron never worked a day in his life…unless you got him talking about working construction with his dad or the time he spent in Alaska building the pipeline as a young man.

Once he found his passion for finance and business, he worked for Chase Bank, started a trucking company, and ventured into the video game industry, co-founding Nintendo of America. Even in retirement, he maintained his love for the art and science of deal making and would always speak with energy and enthusiasm if you asked him about one of the new ventures or strategies that he was pursuing.

Horses were another one of Ron’s life passions. He acquired his first riding horses in his early 20s, and quickly moved on to owning racehorses. Under the banner of Three Sisters Stables, he ran his horses at many tracks including Longacres, Del Mar, and Emerald Downs.

Most importantly, Ron had a big heart!  During his lifetime, he gave generously to many causes, including United Cerebral Palsy San Diego, American Cancer Society, multiple health and research organizations, and numerous community causes in both Seattle and San Diego. No organization was too big or too small to receive his kindness and generosity.

Ron is survived by his three daughters and their families, Tamara Jarosek (Brent Jarosek and daughters Isabelle and Aubrey Jarosek) of Seattle, Sarah Judy (Anders Loven-Holt) of San Francisco, and Stephanie Judy of San Diego.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to your favorite charity in his honor.

A private celebration of life will take place sometime in the future.

Ron’s passing is an enormous loss in our lives and we deeply miss him. He was steadfast in his friendship and kindness, not only to us but to many others. He had the rare quality of deeply enriching his friends’ lives with his keen intellect, caring, warmth, generosity, and exceptional sense of humor. He lived his life with a positve attitude and he took his obligations very seriously but he didn’t take himself too seriously. So all of the time we spent with Ron over the years was filled with learning, fun, and laughter. He deeply loved his family and spoke of them with love and great pride in all of their achievements.
Our memory of Ron will always be with us.
