Rosegene Mathews passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 13th at age 90.
Born August 25th, 1928 in Seattle, she attended Franklin High School. She worked at Sears as a supervisor in catalog sales for 10 years, retiring in 1973 to raise her family.
Rosegene was preceded in death by her son, Mark William, her grandson Austin Thomas and her husband of 69 years, Jack Mathews.
Rosegene is joyfully remembered by her six children, John (Jonah), Marijane, Tom (Brigitte), Margoan (Jim), Monica (Gary) and Stuart (Debbi), her nine grandchildren Sean (Java), Aaron, Riley (Allison), Jessica (Dylan), Jake, Alyson, Emily, Caitlyn, Griffin and three great grandchildren, Gavin, Callan and Seneca.
Rosegene loved traveling, family weekends at the cabin, road trips in the RV, and the Seahawks. She especially enjoyed nurturing family traditions of making pies and jam with her children and grandchildren. Holidays were a special time for her, she hosted large family gatherings at Christmas, sharing her holiday treats with family, friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed as a mother, Nana, Gramma, great Gramma, mother-in-law and friend.
A service will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on November 2nd at 11:00 am, 4415 S. 140th St., Tukwila. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Northwest Harvest at northwestharvest.org<http://northwestharvest.org>.
