Obituary

Our dear mother, Ruby M. Alverson, who was born on September 16, 1924, in Los Angeles, California, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 5:00pm. She passed gently at home with her family, surrounded by love. She was a very sweet, giving woman who helped everyone.

During WWII, she was a secretary for Sears. After WWII, she married Dr. Dayton L. Alverson, and lived in Normandy Park, WA, across from a park, and 2 blocks from the beach that they could walk down to. It was a beautiful area. Her and Dayton, traveled the entire world, and loved spending time at their water front home in Allyn Wash. They were married for 67 years.

While Lee went to college, Ruby was an executive secretary for the Administer of the Renton School District. She won a gold medal in a typewriting contest, for doing 141 words a minute on an old manual Royal. Later she did bulletins for Normandy Park Elementary and John Knox Church for free. She was a room mother, a cub scout and girl scout leader, and even in her 80s, drove all the older ladies in the neighborhood to Costco every Wednesday for a special outing. Her whole life she helped others, especially caring for her daughter Susan, after she had a stroke.

She is survived by her children: Robert Alverson and Susan Wilson; four grandchildren: Chelsi Marie, Steven Wilson, Aimie Undseth, and Tara Alverson; and two great-grandchildren: Madison Undseth and Kollin Undseth. Her love and generosity will be greatly missed. She loved singing the old hymns, and repeated Psalm 23 until the day she passed.

We loved your mom and dad a lot. How lucky you were to have had them. Some of our fond memories were at your cabin at the Canal, eating oysters! Jeff really remembers a lot about working with your dad. Deepest sympathies to your entire family. Jeff & Amanda
