She spent many years working at Northwest Hospital as a laboratory technician where she met her future husband, Jerry De Groot. Ruth was a happy, loving woman who enjoyed her family. She was an avid reader and loved playing games online. Her cat, Max was a constant companion and loved to join her on the computer and in her recliner in the evenings. Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and friends. While her journey has come to an end we can take comfort that her life was a wonderful trip.

Ruth was my constant companion on Thursdays at the Cancer Care Center at Highline Medical Center. She helped me begin my volunteer job and was always there. I will miss her, as will many others who encountered her there. I send my sincere condolences to her spouse and family. She loved you all.
I am so surprised and shocked to hear about losing dear Ruth. Ruth and I had a wonderful relationship volunteering at the Cancer Center. We had many laughs, especially about her Max and my Lucy. Our special kitties exchanged gifts several times and it was always a treat to hear her Max stories. It was so good to see her when we were there visiting last month. Her smile was as big as all outdoors. How blessed we all are to have had her in our lives.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
We will miss Ruth’s volunteer service in our Cancer Center. Ruth always had a big smile and a kind word for everyone. Thank you for supporting our patients and for all you did for your fine husband, Dr Jerry DeGroot. Highline Medical Center is a better place because of both of you.

It was an honor and privilege to have worked closely with Ruth at Northwest Hospital. She was a great supervisor who was always fair, respectful, and judicious. I will always have special memories of her and those times. May her family also find comfort in their wonderful memories of this special lady.
Jerry and Family,
On behalf of the volunteers at Highline Medical Center our thoughts are with you all. Ruth was always supportive to patients and staff as a volunteer at our Cancer Center Gift Shop and will be truly missed. Her smile always comforted everyone around her…… Memories of love and friendship are treasures to carry with you always.
I worked with Ruth for many of her years at Northwest, and send my condolences to the family. May your wonderful memories of Ruth help ease your pain at this difficult time.
I have many good memories of Ruth, who was my supervisor for 15 years at Northwest Hospital. She was kind, gracious, helpful, and wise. She carried herself with dignity, treated others with respect, and never held a grudge no matter what her circumstances. She and Jerry attended our wedding over 16 years ago, and have remained friends. Ruth had a significant impact on me and I shall always remember her.
Ruth was a outstanding lady with lots of compassion for all people. She will be missed

Rob,
I worked with KCSO in the late 1980’s. I was sorry to read about the recent death of your mother. Wishing you and your family peace at this time of sadness. Jennifer
I worked with Ruth at Northwest Hospital for many, many, many years. Her laughter, energy, and tenacious spirit will be missed.
My heart goes out to the family. We will miss Ruth and her big smile.
Uncle Jerry, I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Ruth was a lovely person with an amazing sense of humor. She visited every summer to lay by the pool with us and every Christmas loaded down with beautifully wrapped gifts. And she taught us all to be crack Scrabble players, she showed no mercy. But always with that smile in her eyes.
Dr. D, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I always loved hearing you say you were leaving the office to take your bride to lunch. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Annie
During my 10 years working in the Pathology Department at Northwest Hospital Ruth was a friend and a mentor as well as a wonderful supervisor and a dear lady. I am so very sorry to hear of her passing.
