Obituary

Ruth E. George Hennen

Born September 27, 1914 in Omak, WA, Ruth passed away at about 5:30 AM June 12, 2005 in Burien, WA. Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of over 65 years, Waldo; her two loving sons, John of Olympia, WA, and Thomas of Des Moines, WA; her loving daughter-in-law, Nancy Nelson of Olympia, WA; her two grandchildren, Tracy Bent of Bitburg, Germany, and Amy Longmire, currently serving with the Peace Corps in Zambia, Africa; her four great-grand children, Tatum, Hunter, Piper and Morgan Bent; her sister-in-law Jean George; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a longtime resident of Des Moines, WA where she raised her family and enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses, and sewing. She never forgot and always cherished her Omak roots. She was named Queen of the May, for the 1930 May Day program presented by the American Legion Auxiliary in Omak, and played forward on the 1930-1931 Okanogan County championship girls basketball team at Omak High School. Ruth had that amazing ability to remain positive in the face of adversity and to find the humor in almost any situation. Her family learned so much from her. At Ruth’s request there will be no funeral service.
