Sally Lou Jacobs

Born in Youngstown Ohio, December 31, 1930, passed away in her sleep on Sunday morning October 8, 2017.

The youngest of three sisters LaVerne, Elizabeth Ruth, and Sally born to Albert Elmer Mapstone and Agnes Taylor Kennedy, she was an active member of the Methodist church in Youngstown.

She married Rollin Bruce Huber (Ron) in 1951 in Ohio and moved to Tacoma, WA to be near Ron while he was stationed at Fort Lewis. Upon his discharge from the service they decided to make their new home in Tacoma. This is where daughter Kathleen and son Russ were born. The family moved Salt Lake City, for a promotion Ron had to Branch Manager for the H.J. Heinz Co.

In 1971 the family moved to Vashon Island, WA to start a new adventure as Ron became Camp Burton Manager.

Sally and Ron divorced in 1976, and Sally and Kathy moved to Seattle, WA with the help of Pastor Bob Walker of Fremont Baptist Church. They moved into the apartment building behind the church and began going to services.

Sally met Cecil Jacobs at an Alpha Mu group gathering and began dating; eventually they married in 1984, living in the Ballard area of Seattle.

In 1979 Sally joined the Regional office of the American Baptist Church of the N.W. until she retired in 1997 to care for Cecil; Sally then worked for the F.R. McAbee, Inc. until her 2nd retirement in 2008. Cecil passed away in 1999, and Kathy moved back in with her mother in 2004.

Sally is survived by her children Kathy of Seattle, and Russ of Vashon.

Sally was a lifelong member of Eastern Star in Ohio. Family gatherings & meals on Sundays were an important part of her life.

A celebration of her life will be held at Fremont Baptist Church on Saturday November 4, at 2:30pm. Wear colorful clothing and a smile, and share a memory. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Cecil at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA
