In Loving Memory of Sherri Marie Willard
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow we announce the passing of Sherri Marie Willard, 62, who peacefully departed on the 4th of July 2025. She was a loving sister to Brenda Willard and a wonderful daughter of Judy Willard, both of Seattle, Washington and a great friend to many that knew her.
She was born in Coos Bay, Oregon on January 20, 1963, to Ralph (deceased) and Judy Willard. Sherri started her career in banking at WAMU in the 1980’s and continued in her banking career at BECU after WAMU was sold to Chase bank in 2008. She really enjoyed her job and the many friends she made at both banks. Sherri was a very proud employee of BECU.
Sherri will be especially missed by her family and all of her special friends.

We, the next-door neighbors[ the McElhoses]
knew Sherri for most of her life. She was a free spirited woman with a quirky, yet fun and funny attitude. She Will be missed.
I first met Sherri when starting my new position in December 2024 as her desk was not far from mine. She was the kind of person who lit the room up when she came in. Always so fun and I really loved her loud voice! She made me laugh and I enjoyed hearing her talk about her cats and how much she cared for her garden and how much she loved her family! They went to Red Robin every Saturday and I love that (good place to eat)! I also loved talking to her about Springer Spaniels as she had one growing up and I grew up with one and have one now! 🙂 The CRS team misses her so much!
I met Sherri when I started working at BECU. We had a few things in common that others do not really experience. It was wonderful to speak with someone who could relate to my one-off situations and speak to them with such expertise. I really enjoyed speaking with Sherri. Sherri was smart and knew her stuff. She had a strong work ethic. She often talked about gardening and her cats and how she loved just being home on the weekends. She also was kind enough to let people park at her house while flying out of town. Sherri will be deeply missed for many reasons. May she rest in peace.

I met Sherri at WaMu and worked with her there and later at BECU as well but my favorite memories of her are thrift shopping together with our friend Karessa who has also passed. The three of us had many adventures and her laugh was contagious. Sherri was so fun to treasure hunt with and I remember her joy in finding some special glass vase or dish. The three of us also spent a wonderful week at Lake Chelan one summer. We lost touch a bit with Covid but I think I always expected that we would get together for lunch again “soon”. I will miss her.
I had the pleasure of working with Sherri and having her on my team the past 18 months. She was always chipper, always smiling, even when she had a lot on her plate. She was willing to take on any task to help her peers and really was our resident expert on the data and workflows for the team. I recently bonded with her over the Stanley Cup playoffs- I had not known she was a fan!
She will be greatly missed by BECU, her peers and I will miss seeing her smile in the office.

Sherri was one of the first people I met when I joined BECU. Our desks were next to each other and we quickly became good friends. We bonded over many things such as the Seattle Seahawks, fur babies, family, hobbies, health issues, you name it. Sherri was a loyal friend, always smiled and was always willing to lend a hand even when her plate was full. She thoroughly enjoyed those she loved and would always share her weekend adventures with her mom and sister. I miss our Monday morning catch up chats.
Truth be told, there are no words that can convey how much she meant to many people, how kind and loyal she was, or how deeply she is and will be missed. Sherri is truly one of a kind. I will miss our lunches and after hour dinners, your bright smile, and your radiant laugh. Heaven has a bright angel. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Sherri was my big sister and the best sister anyone could ever ask for. We had a good life together growing up in West Seattle with great parents. Spent summers picking strawberries on Vashon Island and she was a checker and picked for commerical and i picked regular and she would always help me at the end of day fill my carriers so i could get paid. She always made sure i was okay, she would check on me frequently through the day making sure I ate my lunch and had water to drink in the warm weather while picking strawberries. I really enjoyed going to vashon island on the ferry boat with my sister and she always took care of me. In our later years we enjoyed going to holiday bazaars, junk and antique shopping at varoius places, and going to heavy metal concerts. She took me to my first concert which was purple rain (PRINCE )when I was 15. Sherri, I have great memories of all the fun things we did together including going to the zoos, going to sporting events and our annual trips to spring training to see the mariners in arizona and all the cool places we would explore in our many trips to Arizona. You were simply the best big sister anyone could ever imagine. Rest in peace, Mom and I will miss you greatly. Lots of love, Brenda
