Obituary

Socorro (Coring) Zapata 89, passed peacefully at home on June 9, 2014, a resident of Seattle for 67 years. Born in Ormoc City, Leyte Philippines to the deceased Patricio and Genoveva. She had two brothers. She met her late husband Primitivo (Frank) Zapata during the war. They were married for 47 years.  Retired from The Boeing Company as a power machine operator. She was known by many local Filipinos as “The Lumpia Wrapper Lady.” An active member in the Filipino Community in Seattle, a charter member of the Philippine War Brides Association and supported many Filipino organizations.  A Parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Seattle. A talented dancer, fashionista, gardener and loved to crochet. Raised 10 children, Grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Great Grandmother to one great granddaughter, Mother-in-law to six. Predeceased by her son Reynaldo (Dundo). Survived by nine children: Lita Llaneta, Benjamin, Dennis, Myron, Mark and Barbara Marxer all reside in Seattle; Evie Wolf of Henderson, NV, Ruben of Skokie, IL  Conchitina of Natick, MA.
