Obituary

Sonny Leomiti, Sr was born in Pava’ia’i, American Samoa on October 4, 1945 to Siliaga Leomiti.  He graduated from Aiea High School on the island of Oahu, Hawai’i and would later marry Katalina Laumatia in 1969.  Three children, Joseph, Sonny Jr, and Nick were born to that union of 20 years. 

After a brief move to California, Sonny moved his family to Seattle, Washington.  He began his career in construction and worked primarily as an ironworker where he was a lifelong member of the Ironworkers Local Union #86.

In June of 1998, Sonny married Rosa Maea in Seattle, Washington.  They had three children, Vilai, Siliaga, and Tagilima.  Along with his children, Sonny’s beloved niece, Jacinta, and her children were like his own.  Sonny was a man of few words and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He loved family camping trips every summer and was known to enjoy barbecue and playing poker.   

Rosa preceded Sonny in death in 2018.  Sonny leaves behind his 6 children, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and sisters, Maila, Malaea, and Lilian.    

Family Service will be held April 3, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the Burial Service will be on April 4, 2024 at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Bonney-Watson SeaTac.
