Obituary

Stephanie Marie (Smith) Whidden (46) of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 20, 2021.  She was a lover of fashion, specifically shoes. Stephanie was a free spirit and never experienced art she didn’t love.  Cooking, reading, and going on adventures were her favorite hobbies. Stephanie grew up in Reynoldsburg, Ohio and graduated in 1993.  She moved to Lewiston, Idaho in her early 20s to follow her dream of becoming a cosmetologist near her mom.  Stephanie was unable to graduate due to worsening epilepsy.  Stephanie battled the war of epilepsy from the age of 18.  She was always an optimist when it came to her seizures.  She longed for a cure or some relief from the seizures.  Over the years, she had many bumps and scrapes; even a few broken bones.  Stephanie never let her epilepsy keep her from experiencing life.  She was able to travel, sing karaoke, shop of course, and be a fierce friend to all.

She is survived by her partner Charles Ryan Whidden, son Spencer Devine, mother Jan Marie (Keys) Smith, her brother Jason Scott Smith, sister Sarah Michelle (Anthony, Jonathon) LaGrass, and numerous extended family from Washington, Ohio, Florida, and Mississippi.

Stephanie is proceeded in death by father James Bruce Smith of Columbus, Ohio, grandparents Homer and Dorothy Copley of Mississippi, and many others.

Family and friends supported her battle over the years. Stephanie wished to be cremated and have her ashes spread by her partner and family “somewhere pretty”.  Private ceremonies are to be organized and details will be forthcoming by family.

In lieu of flowers, her family is asking to donate to the Epilepsy Foundation.  https://donate.epilepsy.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.event&eventID=747

My thoughts are with her family at this time. I’m at a loss for words, she was way to young. I’m very sorry to hear of her passing. Much love, cousin Susan of Ohio.
