Steve was a great guy, and when I moved here in December 1978 he helped me a lot. He was great to work with and also plenty of fun outside of work!

Lisa and Steve’s children, I am very sorry for your loss. Steve was a person i looked up to from childhood on. This goes back to the house at South Park on the Dwamish River. The tree swing with the tire that went out over the water. The White Jelly Fish you showed me in your hand. The bench press record at Cleveland High. The Gun collection and the ride you gave me in the swamp off 10th ave in your Willys Jeep. Then there was the 1968 Green Camaro with the 396 four speed you street raced. You will be missed by myself and all those you knew. A rare person of kindness and strength and a family man, who always put others first.

I am very sorry for your loss. I grew up with Steve in South Park. We were friends from early elementary school thru graduation from Cleveland. He was a friend. We saw each other only a couple times since school but I often thought of him. I will miss him.

Dear Henkel Family –

I spent time with Steve at Cleveland HS where we graduated in 1965. I considered Steve my best friend then, but our paths separated after HS.

Steve was one of the few guys who had weights in his home, probably the strongest guy in our class and we both quit the football team for similar reasons.

Steve had a long career at Boeing where I’m sure he was well liked for his hard work ethic and friendly personality. I went into the service after HS and led a different path.

I also remember his old Pontiac and trips to the drive in movies. His dad was a brew master at the Rainier Brewery so we enjoyed a few samples.

I was also a groomsman at his first wedding and he was one at mine in 1970. Steve was a great guy – one of the best – I truly miss him and will never forget him.

God bless Steve’s wife, his family and his children. We send our condolences and wish you the very best. Feel free to contact me any time.
